Performer Spotlight for premiere of the film Windows of Time: Threading
Cathy Harris
Dance is my passion and I have enjoyed being part of the dance community for over 40 years. I started as a dancer/teacher with Gina Lori Dance Enterprise in Windsor. The company gave lecture demonstrations, performances and workshops as part of community outreach programs in Ontario, Quebec, and Michigan. This experience helped further my career as an dance educator. It was the onset of dance curriculum in the high schools that lead me to teach for the Windsor Essex Catholic District School Board. During that time one of the highlights was being involved in OSSDF, the Ontario Secondary School Dance Fest.
My participation each year facilitated me to make connections by leading workshops,
hosting the event and becoming a board member as the Secondary School Representative.
From 2008-2019, I taught the Additional Qualifications for Dance at the University of Windsor. The twelve years of developing and teaching these courses gave me the opportunity to share my passion with dance educators. I feel very fortunate to have been apart of the growth in dance education. and in my retirement will continue to be involved in dance.
